Tidy Up the Town Black Screen: What to Check

Separate launch, display and graphics compatibility problems when Tidy Up the Town shows a black screen.

Describe what still works

A black image with sound is a different symptom from a process that immediately closes. Record whether the menu ever appears, whether audio continues and whether Windows reports an unresponsive application. Avoid repeatedly forcing a shutdown while the game might be writing progress.

Check the display and installation

Confirm the intended monitor is active. On Windows, try Alt+Enter once as a general window-mode diagnostic; support depends on the application. Verify installed files through Steam and remove custom launch options that you added yourself. Check that the graphics driver supports your GPU and operating system.

Compare graphics requirements

The official requirements call for Direct3D 12 or Vulkan support and exclude OpenGL-only and pre-2016 GPUs. This is a PC game for Windows and Linux; mobile Township instructions do not establish a fix here. Continue with launch troubleshooting or the Vulkan guide.
