Confirm the supported platform
Tidy Up the Town is officially listed for Windows and Linux. The Windows minimum lists Windows 10 64-bit; the Linux minimum lists Ubuntu 22.04 LTS or newer with glibc 2.35+. A Mac-specific repair guide is not evidence of native macOS support.
Check installation and requirements
Launch through Steam and record any error instead of dismissing it. Verify installed files and check the required storage and memory on the store page. The graphics requirement includes Direct3D 12 or Vulkan support; OpenGL-only and pre-2016 GPUs are explicitly excluded.
Narrow the failure
Remove launch options you added yourself and retry after restarting the system. Record whether a game process appears briefly, stays open without a window, or never starts. These are general diagnostics rather than a confirmed game-specific workaround. Follow the black-screen checks if a window opens, or crash checklist if it closes.
